SANGAIWE TENTED LODGE

Our team has many years of experience in African hospitality under their belts. Sangaiwe Tented Lodge is a member of Bougainvillea Group of Lodges. The group was founded by two prominent businessmen from Karatu—the late Jacob Ombay and Reginald Bayo—and has grown from one small lodge in Karatu, to a selection of camps and lodges across the northern safari circuit of Tanzania.

Sadly, Jacob passed in early 2021 but his children are continuing in his footsteps, carrying on his legacy and his work in tourism. Regie continues to be active in the Karatu community and is well known in the greater tourism industry of Tanzania. The group offers employment to over a hundred and fifty Tanzanians and each year they help train dozens of young people who’ve attended local tourism colleges. The commitment to the Tarangire area is such that many people from the village surrounding the lodge are offered employment and training. Additionally, we are acting as stewards to the village land where the lodge is located.

Accommodation is in beautifully constructed tented rooms set on wooden platforms with a solid attached bath, toilet and dressing area. There are Twenty (20) tents, two of which are family suites. Each elevated tent has twin or double beds, a writing desk, ample places for luggage and indoor and outdoor seating. Decks all have stunning views to Lake Burunge and the Rift Valley.

Additionally, there are two 2-bedroom family cottages with one twin room and a double room, both en-suite and joined by a common sitting area. Each room has its own veranda.
