Day 1 – Moshi – Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp

Your journey begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Moshi, followed by a drive to the Londorossi Gate. After a lunch stop and gathering last-minute supplies in a nearby settlement, you’ll meet your guides and venture into the lush jungle covering Kilimanjaro’s lower slopes. The ascent on this day will take about three hours, and as you make your way to Mti Mkubwa Camp for the night, keep an eye out for local wildlife like Colobus monkeys.

Day 2 – Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 2 Camp

Following breakfast, bid farewell to the Kilimanjaro rainforest as you gradually ascend through scrubby moorland with gentle mountain streams. The journey to Shira 2 Camp takes you across a sizable plateau, rewarding you with mesmerizing views of the surroundings. Here, your path intersects with those on the Machame Route, and you’ll set up camp for the evening.

Day 3 – Shira Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

After breakfast, your first objective is to reach the imposing Lava Tower at 4,640 meters. Following a 700-meter ascent, you’ll descend gradually to Barranco Camp, situated at 4,500 meters. The hike will take you through various vegetation zones, and you’ll camp in the picturesque Barranco area, known as the most scenic camp on Kilimanjaro.

Day 4 – Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

Today, you’ll experience your first real taste of mountain climbing as you tackle the Barranco Wall. After this exhilarating test, continue for 3-4 hours before reaching your tent at Karanga Valley. Take the afternoon to rest and acclimate, making sure to stop for lunch along the way.

Day 5 – Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

After breakfast, journey for another two to three hours until you arrive at Barafu Camp. The hike will take you through the alpine desert, creating a surreal and unique experience. It’s essential to have a substantial dinner and stay hydrated, as you’ll be preparing for the summit attempt tomorrow.

Day 6 – Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp

An early start is crucial, beginning just after midnight. As you prepare and organize your daypack, your climbing crew will wake you with hot tea and a small meal for energy. The next 5-7 hours will be spent hiking in complete darkness, leading you to Stella Point just before dawn. Pushing through another two hours of challenging hiking, you’ll reach Uhuru Peak, standing tall at 5,985 meters. Witness an incredible sunrise and savor the expansive vista from the summit. After taking in the moment, start your descent back to Barafu Camp, where you’ll pause for lunch and some well-deserved celebration. From there, continue down to Mweka Camp to spend the night.

Day 7 – Mweka Camp – Moshi

The final day begins with a special breakfast on the mountain before you descend to the Mweka Gate. Celebrate with your porters and guides, show appreciation for their hard work, and receive your completion certificate. Your driver will then take you to your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha, where you can rest and reflect on your remarkable Kilimanjaro adventure.
