Iconic Game Drive from Zanzibar

During this safari, you’ll have the time of your life tracking the Big Five in these three excellent parks. Witness the captivating sight of tree-climbing lions in Lake Manyara, the vast elephant population in Tarangire, and the stunning wildlife diversity and scenic beauty of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a designated World Heritage site.
Day 1 – Zanzibar – Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Your journey begins with an 8:00 a.m. flight from Zanzibar to Arusha Airport. From there, it will take a two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park, passing through lively Masai settlements and the iconic African grasslands along the way.
Once inside Tarangire, your thrilling game drive starts amidst the golden savannah surrounding the Tarangire River, a vital water source for the region’s wildlife during the dry season. The riverbanks, adorned with acacia and Baobab trees, are frequented by a large elephant population and other herbivores like zebras and antelopes.
Enjoy a picnic lunch by the river, but watch out for mischievous monkeys eager to share your meal! Keep your eyes peeled as you might spot lions, leopards, Cape buffalo, and various antelope species. With some luck, you might even catch a glimpse of endangered species like the Greater Kudu or the Fringe-Eared Oryx. At the end of the day, retire to your comfortable lodging at Kirurumu Tarangire Lodge.
Day 2 – Tarangire National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
After a delicious breakfast, head to the Ngorongoro Crater, often hailed as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” This magnificent site within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to over 120 mammal species, including the renowned Big Five. Observe the endangered black rhinoceros grazing on the grass plains and witness countless hippos relaxing in the cool waters.
You’ll have the opportunity to photograph Africa’s most iconic animals from the comfort of your open-top vehicle. The crater teems with predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas, along with a large population of wildebeest, zebras, antelope, and Cape buffalo. It truly stands as one of Africa’s premier safari destinations. Spend the night at Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp.
Day 3 – Ngorongoro – Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha – Zanzibar
Following breakfast, set off to explore Lake Manyara National Park, a photographer’s paradise boasting some of the world’s best game-watching opportunities. Get ready to encounter Africa’s famous tree-climbing lions, a captivating sight. The park also delights birdwatchers with its diverse avian population, including impressive flamingo flocks, circling birds of prey, and the beautifully colored lilac-breasted roller. In the afternoon, return to Arusha Airport for your flight back to Zanzibar, departing at 16:35 and arriving at 18:00.
